Europhysiology 2020 Cancelled
It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of Europhysiology 2020.
The Organising Committee unanimously agreed that, although the situation is currently improving, holding a large international conference in early September is unrealistic due to COVID-19.
The safety of all attendees, including invited speakers, participants, exhibitors and sponsors is our primary concern. Similarly, making travel arrangements is also currently not possible. Many universities are not permitting travel, either nationally or internationally. In such difficult times, priorities rightly shift and it is hard to imagine that we would be able to celebrate science, particularly that in Europe, with a greatly reduced number of attendees and the social restrictions that would need to be applied.
Unfortunately, it is also not possible to postpone the meeting to 2021. The four societies that organise Europhysiology are already committed to their own national and local meetings in 2021.
Although this cancellation is a major setback for our plans to establish a regular meeting to bring together physiologists working in Europe, the spirit of Europhysiology will live on! The next meeting, Europhysiology 2022, is planned for Copenhagen, Denmark, September 2022 and we look forward to seeing you there and sharing our research again.
Kind regards
